Description
The Base 16 Lightweight Kids Bike is an Australian-designed first pedal bike purpose-built for children aged 4 to 6 years (approximately 99 to 116 cm tall). Engineered around child-specific biomechanics, it eliminates awkward geometry and heavy excess weight so young riders can balance, pedal, and steer with natural confidence.
Weighing in at just 6.7 kg with pedals, it is one of the lightest 16-inch bikes on the market, making it easy for small riders to start, stop, and pick the bike up after a tumble. By replacing traditional, abrupt coaster (foot) brakes with dual micro-reach hand brakes and a free-spinning freewheel hub, children can freely backpedal to set up their pedals for a smooth takeoff.

- Kenda Small Block Eight Tyres: Comes with fast-rolling 16″ × 1.5″ Kenda Small Block Eight tyres that balance low rolling resistance on footpaths with ample grip across park lawns and light gravel tracks.
- Adjustability for Growing Riders: Includes a quick-release seatpost clamp, a Selle Royal kids saddle mounted on sliding/tilting rails, and adjustable high-rise handlebars to modify reach as your child grows.
- Protected, Low-Maintenance Drivetrain: Uses a 26T chainring, 16T freewheel, KMC chain with an integrated chain tensioner, and a fully sealed cartridge bottom bracket with steel cups.
